New fundraising campaign supports families affected by COVID-19 and vaccine research and development
ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--World Wide Technology (WWT), a market-leading $12 billion technology solutions provider, today announced the launch of a new Global Community Impact program, matching $1 million to support agencies assisting families affected by COVID-19 and organizations accelerating research to develop a vaccine and treatment for the virus. The initiative is part of an ongoing effort by WWT to support the global community — from both a social and business perspective — during this pandemic.
WWT kicked off the Global Community Impact program with an initial donation of $25,000 to the International Red Cross in support of its efforts to provide a stable blood supply and encouraged its employees to give blood at their local Red Cross agency.
“Making a positive social and business impact on the world requires a combination of corporate social responsibility and embracing diversity in people and ideas,” said Ann Marr, Executive Vice President of Global Human Resources at WWT. “It is important for WWT to leverage its diverse workforce and the organizations our employees want to support to help fight against this global pandemic.”
WWT and its more than 6,500 global team members share an extensive history of giving back, primarily focused on providing leadership through employee involvement and developing long-term relationships in the communities where it operates. WWT leadership is humbled by the scores of employees who have independently given their time and resources to help those in need.
In addition to providing financial support, WWT has embarked on several campaigns focused on helping companies leverage technology to enable business continuity during the pandemic. As a provider of critical information technology infrastructure and services to a majority of Fortune 100 companies and numerous federal, state and local government agencies, WWT has unique insight into what technologies are driving innovation.
For example, WWT recently aided a large healthcare organization to quickly convert standard patient rooms into quarantine rooms with remote observation. WWT replaced baby monitors that could have blocked Wi-Fi signals with high-tech two-way cameras that would be placed in the rooms with no other infrastructure needed. Additionally, WWT supported a U.S. state hit hard by the spread of COVID-19 to keep the public informed and educated by rapidly implementing a reliable and high-quality conferencing solution that allowed the governor to facilitate press conferences and answer questions from local media outlets remotely.
