Three California companies are joining the prestigious S&P 500 Index. Bloom Energy (San Jose), Everpure (Santa Clara, formerly known as Pure Storage) and Illumina (San Diego) are now part of the index as part of a quarterly rebalancing.
Also, three Silicon Valley companies — Arista Networks, Palo Alto Networks, Sandisk — are being added to the S&P 100.
The addition of these companies to the indexes can be a big boost to stock prices since numerous funds track the performance of the S&P 500.
S&P Dow Jones Indices said it will make the following changes to the S&P 500, S&P 100, S&P MidCap 400, and S&P SmallCap 600 indices effective prior to the open of trading on Monday, September 21, 2026, to coincide with the quarterly rebalance. The changes ensure that each index is more representative of its market capitalization range. The companies being removed from the S&P SmallCap 600 are no longer representative of the small-cap market space.
