Bay Area travelers can now catch their next flight at San Francisco International Airport via convenient and fully autonomous Waymo rides. For the first time, Waymo is offering SFO access to a select number of riders and will gradually welcome all riders over the coming months. Initially, pickups and dropoffs will occur at the SFO Rental Car Center, accessible via a short AirTrain ride, with plans to serve additional airport locations like the terminals in the future.

SFO is one of the busiest airports in the U.S. and a key transportation hub for the region. This marquee service will allow Waymo to further support the SF Bay Area’s economy and thriving tourism industry. Waymo provides service to a 260 square miles in the Bay Area service. In December, Waymo began service to Mineta San Jose Airport and recently starting offer freeway access.

“Serving rides to and from San Francisco International Airport delivers one of the most requested features for our riders and further deepens our relationship with the city,“ said Tekedra Mawakana, co-CEO, Waymo. “With millions traveling in for major events this year, we look forward to meeting the growing demand for reliable, fully autonomous rides. We are proud to offer a service that is improving road safety in San Francisco and providing a magical start or end to Bay Area journeys.”

“We are excited to launch Waymo passenger service at SFO,” said San Francisco International Airport Director Mike Nakornkhet. “As the global gateway to a region of innovation, this new option demonstrates our continued commitment to providing an extraordinary travel experience with transportation options that are safe, sustainable, and reliable.”
