Uber announced it would waive the Delivery Fee for more than 100,000 independent restaurants across US & Canada on its Uber Eats delivery service. The move matches a similar fee waiver by GrubHub unveiled last week.
Uber Eats said it will also launch daily dedicated, targeted marketing campaigns—both in-app and via email—to promote delivery from local restaurants, especially those that are new to the app.
California restaurants have been hit hard by the Coronavirus and many are closing their dining rooms and switching to take out or delivery only.
Uber Eats also said it would donate 300,000 free meals to first responders and healthcare workers in US and Canada, in coordination with local and state and provincial governments.
