BOTHELL, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MediaPRO, a leading provider of security and privacy awareness training, announced today that it has been named a certified provider of cybersecurity training and education by the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR).
MediaPRO’s “Security Basics” module—which is included in all of MediaPRO’s security-focused TrainingPacks—will be used to cover key topics approved by the state to reinforce best cybersecurity practices among its employees.
MediaPRO’s “Security Basics” module was measured against a comprehensive set of certification criteria as part of a detailed approval process developed by the DIR in consultation with the Texas Cybersecurity Council and statewide stakeholders for the cybersecurity training of state and local government employees.
House Bill (HB) 3834, passed by the 86th Texas Legislature, requires that state and local government employees annually complete a certified cybersecurity training focused on forming information security habits and procedures that protect information resources as well as best practices for detecting, assessing, reporting, and addressing information security threats. An initial training deadline has been set for June 14, 2020. Approved training providers will be required to resubmit for certification annually.
“Staying aligned to key standards is critical, and our DIR-approved course does that. But keeping training concise, engaging, and behavior-focused is equally important. That’s why we built a compliant module that takes just 35 minutes to complete, leaving ample time throughout the year for other reinforcement aimed at reducing human risk,” said MediaPRO Chief Learning Officer Tom Pendergast. Employees play a crucial role in keeping their organizations secure in an environment where data breaches continue to hit the headlines almost daily, yet MediaPRO’s own research shows that the majority struggle with identifying best practices related to correct behaviors in cybersecurity and data privacy. Developed using NIST Cybersecurity Framework guidelines, MediaPRO training couples short courses with a regular stream of behavior-targeted reinforcement content to reduce human risk and achieve sustainable behavioral changes without a huge time investment on the part of organizations or their staff.
MediaPRO courses are continually refreshed to reflect the latest in regulations and standards. MediaPRO provide customers with everything they need to run effective security and privacy awareness programs addressing general knowledge in these areas and topics required by PCI, HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA, and many other regulations and guidelines. MediaPRO products have won more than 100 e-Learning awards and have led to the company being named a Leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Security Awareness Computer-Based Training for six consecutive years.
