Yahoo Acquires Bix.comPOSTED November 17, 2006 SUNNYVALE -- Yahoo has purchased Bix.com, a site that lets users generate their own contests to rate photos, videos and songs according to Reuters and the Wall Street Journal. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Bix was founded by Mike Speiser, who was a founder of Epinions, a user-generated product review site. Speiser is expected to join Yahoo as a vice president in charge of community-oriented sites. Based in Palo Alto, Bix was launched in January and has 16 employees. Users will soon be able to set up contests on other major sites like Facebook and MySpace through snippets of code without going to Bix.com directly. © Copyright SVDaily.com |
