POSTED November 4, 2006

SANTA MONICA -- Yahoo has long had sites for stock quotes, movies, sports and more. This week, the portal has finally launched a destination area dedicated to the most important human consumption -- food.

Yahoo Food will let visitors discover the best of food information and content online. The new site combines content from celebrity chefs, a searchable recipe database and personalization features, as well as a built-in user community around the topic of food.

"Yahoo Food was designed with the everyday cook and food lover in mind," said Deanna Brown, general manager, Yahoo Lifestyles. "Food is a necessity for everyone and an obsession to others, and we are thrilled to combine all these food features from great partners and marketers and present them in a seamless, integrated experience."

Yahoo is teaming up with an impressive roster of notable partners including Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, Wolfgang Puck Worldwide, Inc., Every Day with Rachael Ray, Food & Wine, Epicurious.com (online home to Bon Appetit and Gourmet), Allrecipes.com, Cook's Illustrated, EatingWell, Taste of Home, Reader's Digest and many more who will share video and informational content throughout the site to provide consumers with an in-depth food experience.

Yahoo Food will also feature 13 reputable bloggers who will blog about all things food, including: Marcus Samuelsson, "The Continental Chef"; Art Smith, "Back to the Table"; Donatella Arpaia, "Donatella's Dish"; Serious Eats' Ed Levine, "Ed Levine Eats"; and Frank Stitt, "Southern Table," among many others. In addition to blogs and video segments from partners, Yahoo! will be developing a new original online video show called "Cheap and Easy" featuring new culinary talent, Brooke Peterson, to help round out the unique and compelling content to keep users engaged with Yahoo! Food.
