Former CEOs with Expertise Scaling Marketplaces Join as COO and CPO
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Thumbtack, the local services marketplace connecting customers to skilled professionals nationwide, today announced the appointment of Jeff Grant as Chief Operating Officer and Scott Booker as Chief Product Officer. Both are based out of the company's San Francisco headquarters.
“Jeff and Scott bring extensive experience growing consumer technology platforms,” said Thumbtack Co-founder and CEO Marco Zappacosta. “They have the talent to catapult Thumbtack to the next level and the humility to roll up their sleeves alongside our ambitious team. Their leadership will be invaluable as we continue to bring the enormous local services market online.”
As COO, Grant heads up the company’s sales, success, community, customer support, and trust and safety teams. He joins Thumbtack as a veteran in the travel space, first working as an analyst at American Airlines and following as an early employee at Orbitz. Over the course of his tenure at Orbitz, Grant served as GM of each travel vertical, including running a $1.5 billion P&L across multiple businesses. Prior to Thumbtack, he held executive roles as CMO at LeapFrog, CEO at DriversEd, and CEO at insuranceQuotes.
“Thumbtack is working to transform the local services industry, bringing technology to a market that is largely offline,” said Grant. “I am impressed by the team’s passion for simplifying the way people and local professionals find each other to get more done. There is tremendous opportunity ahead, and I’m fortunate to be a part of the journey.”
As CPO, Booker leads the company’s product development, design, and growth marketing departments. He brings a breadth of consumer technology experience, including more than nine years at Expedia. As President of Hotels.com worldwide, Booker grew bookings substantially across the globe. Most recently, he worked at two healthcare-focused marketplaces, serving as CEO at Healthgrades and CPO/CMO/President of International at A Place for Mom.
“Growing Thumbtack means more customers can check anything off their to-do list and more local professionals can turn their talents into sustainable businesses,” said Booker. “This is the future, and I’m excited to be a part of it.”
For the past three years, Thumbtack has been named one of the best medium-sized workplaces by Fortune Magazine and Great Place to Work. With more than $400 million raised from Sequoia Capital, CapitalG, Tiger Global Management, Baillie Gifford, and other top investors, Thumbtack helps local professionals and customers find each other.
Thumbtack was created to solve a seemingly simple problem: local professionals need customers so they can run and grow their business. Customers need local pros too, but have trouble finding the right ones. In 2008, the Thumbtack founders developed a marketplace bringing the two together. Since then, Thumbtack has helped hundreds of thousands of skilled professionals build successful businesses and millions of customers each year with everything from plumbing, to catering, to personal training to math tutoring.
