Target, the nation’s second-largest discount retailer, has suffered a systems outage affecting all stores and making it impossible to check out customers at registers.
Long lines have been reported at stores all over the country on a busy Saturday afternoon and some Target stores have temporarily closed.
Target has 1,849 stores across the U.S. and over 350,000 employees.
The company announced the following on Twitter around 11:30 p.m. Pacific time:
We’re aware that guests are currently unable to make purchases at Target stores. Our teams are troubleshooting now and we apologize for the inconvenience. We will provide an update as soon as possible.
