KKR Invests in Sun Microsystems

SANTA CLARA -- Sun Microsystems announced a quarterly profit for the first time in several years. The company also disclosed that Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, one of the natiion's largest private equity firms, has invested $700 million in it.

The investment will be in the form of $350 million of convertible senior notes due in 2012, and $350 million of convertible senior notes due in 2014.

The investment makes you wonder if Sun could eventually be taken private.
