StubHub Names Top 25 Rivalry GamesPOSTED November 1, 2007 SAN FRANCISCO -- StubHub, an online ticket marketplace, releases its weekly ranking of the Top 25 College Rivalry Games. While USC's game at Notre Dame two weeks ago still remains StubHub's top seller, there has been some significant shuffling in the rankings this week. This week's one and only rivalry game features Big Ten intrastate rivals #15 Michigan and Michigan State. With an average selling price of $205 per ticket, the game ranks as the ninth best seller this season with a few more days to grow. Sales for #1 Ohio State at #15 Michigan continue to surge closer to number one as the Wolverines rebound from an embarrassing start and the Buckeyes forge on to a possible national title. The average ticket selling price for the 2007 game in Ann Arbor, Mich., holds steady at $409 as of this week, tied with the USC-Notre Dame game as the highest value ticket for any game in the rankings. New to the top 25 this week are three prominent games including the "The Oldest Rivalry in the Deep South" between #19 Auburn and #10 Georgia, which enters at No. 16 this week. The game which will be played at Georgia next weekend is fetching an average price of $277 per ticket. #8 Kansas and #9 Missouri jump into the rankings at No. 19 this week, commanding more than double the selling price ($157) it did in 2006. With both schools enjoying their most successful seasons ever, sales for "The Border Showdown," the second-oldest rivalry in Division I-A, will continue to flourish. Finally, the "Apple Cup" between Washington and Washington State enters at #20 with the lowest average ticket price of the Top 25 at $91. Despite having down seasons, the northwest grudge match still has buyers flocking to buy second hand tickets at a very reasonable price. The StubHub Top 25 Rivalry Rankings display the traditional college rivalry game tickets that are in highest demand by gross dollar volume of tickets sold through the StubHub ticket marketplace. A new Top 25 list is released weekly until the conclusion of the regular season as sales fluctuate due to pre-game hype and team performance. An important component of the rankings, Average Ticket Price, can also reflect the difference in year over year demand for each game, an interesting stat with so many traditional powers having sub-par seasons. Rankings are expected to change weekly based on the importance of each game and the overall performance of one or both teams. Once a game has been played it still may rank on the list based on the total sales activity for that game. For example, USC @ Notre Dame could outsell all other games this season and therefore rank number one many weeks after it has been played.
