National Institute for STEM Education and SNHU partner to create online programs connecting an M.Ed. and graduate certificates with teachers’ daily classroom science instruction
HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--#K12--The National Institute for STEM Education (NISE) and Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) have partnered to create unique job-embedded, online graduate programs that directly connect to K-12 teachers’ classroom experiences and the STEM curriculum they are already using with students. These original graduate programs with a focus on STEM Instruction incorporate professional learning from NISE, the award-winning STEMscopes™ digital science curriculum from Accelerate Learning, and SNHU’s knowledge of research-based practices in transformational adult learning.
“Through the creation of original graduate programming that focuses teachers on further strengthening the work they are currently doing with their students, SNHU is setting the bar with a new approach to job-embedded learning in the field of education,” said Judy Zimny, Ed.D., vice president of NISE. “The primary ‘textbook’ for the program is the STEMscopes curriculum the teachers are already using, the rich professional development opportunities existing within that curriculum, and teachers’ individualized learning goals. With this differentiated, experiential learning approach, NISE/SNHU graduate education programs enable teachers to earn a graduate degree or certificate while strengthening student understanding in an area important to them and their school district — STEM.”
Graduate programs in STEM Instruction consist of between 15 and 36 credit hours and are designed to be completed in one to three years. All courses are online and accessible anytime. Every participant is supported by online faculty and STEM coaches, who provide opportunities for collaboration, feedback, and reflection.

SNHU’s graduate programs are accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). Teachers can apply at any time and start their degree program in the fall, spring, or summer.
