Christopher Yip Joins RET Ventures as Partner to Expand Leadership Team

Former TPG Investor Joins Early Stage Venture Firm to Accelerate the Next Generation of Real Estate Technology Innovation

PARK CITY, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--#REIT--RET Ventures, the first industry-backed early stage venture fund primarily focused on real estate technology for the multifamily and single-family rental segments, today announced that Christopher Yip will join the firm as Partner and Managing Director.

Drawing on his background at leading global private investment firm TPG, Yip brings over 12 years of private equity and growth equity investing expertise in technology-enabled services to RET Ventures. Over the course of his career, Yip has acted as a hands-on board member, mentored top entrepreneurs and CEOs, recruited world-class talent and provided strategic guidance to organizations in North America. In his new role, Yip will lead new investments, help build the RET Ventures team, strengthen the firm’s investment processes, and continue to create value for portfolio companies and limited partners.

“Chris brings a unique perspective to the real estate technology market as well as an extensive track record of helping businesses achieve successful outcomes,” said John Helm, founder and partner, RET Ventures. “His complementary skillset will help further build RET Ventures into a dynamic investment partner that helps real estate technology entrepreneurs build category-leading companies while creating strategic, operational and financial value for our limited partners.”

RET Ventures’ limited partners include the largest single group of institutional multifamily and single-family owners in North America, owning and/or managing over 1 million rental units. This unique ecosystem of property owners and operators enables the firm to identify potential real estate technology category leaders and help speed their growth through deep engagement with the Fund’s investor group, which represents many of the industry’s most respected participants. Over time, RET Ventures believes this will drive differentiated investment returns and drastically accelerate innovation in an industry known for lengthy sales cycles. Since the launch of its first $110 million fund, RET Ventures has invested in some of the most promising companies in the industry.

“RET Ventures’ focus, unique business model, unmatched strategic partnerships and deep market expertise give us important differentiation in the competitive real estate technology market,” said Christopher Yip, partner, RET Ventures. “I am excited to help guide the firm through its next stage of growth as we continue to build RET Ventures as a platform and organization, and also cultivate market-leading proptech and rent tech businesses that transform the future of real estate.”
