AMD Cuts 430 JobsPOSTED May 10, 2007 SUNNYVALE -- AMD has cut 430 jobs or 2.6% of its workforce according to The San Jose Mercury News. The company has struggled recently amid fierce competition with industry-leader and main rival Intel. About 40 of those positions will come at the company's Sunnyvale and Santa Clara facilities. 80 positions in Austin and 50 in Markham, Ontario will also be eliminated. AMD said most of the jobs came from sales, marketing and administration. A few engineering positions were cut, but no engineering projects were affected, said spokesman Michael Silverman.
